In the early 1950s, Silvio Carta founded the family company in Baratili San Pietro, Sardinia, dedicating himself from the very beginning to the region’s most traditional wine: Vernaccia di Oristano. An amber-gold expression of nobility and generosity, this historic wine immediately captivates with its warmth and depth.
Through careful vinification, long ageing in barrels and patient, attentive care, the Maison Silvio Carta elevated Vernaccia to an authentic landmark of Sardinian oenology. For decades, it remained the heart of the family’s work — a craft passed down with respect and devotion.
More than sixty years later, Vernaccia is still a family affair. Under the guidance of Elio Carta, who has led the company since 1972, the Vernaccia di Oristano DOC continues to be produced with the same dedication. At the same time, a thoughtful openness to innovation expanded the house’s vision. Alongside wine, Silvio Carta became synonymous with Mirto Riserva, London Dry Gin, Vermouth and other distinctive spirits.
Today, Silvio Carta carries the essence of Sardinia across the world — juniper, myrtle and citrus, distilled and bottled as refined expressions of an ancient, generous land, rich in history, aroma and character.
Anfang der 1950er-Jahre gründete Silvio Carta im sardischen Baratili San Pietro das gleichnamige Familienunternehmen und widmete sich von Beginn an dem wohl traditionsreichsten Wein der Region: Vernaccia di Oristano. Ein bernsteinfarbenes Gold, das für Großzügigkeit, Tiefe und Eleganz steht und den Gaumen mit seiner Wärme und Noblesse einnimmt.
Sorgfältige Vinifikation, lange Reifung im Fass und die geduldige, aufmerksame Pflege durch das Haus Silvio Carta machten die Vernaccia zu einer Ikone der sardischen Önologie. Über Jahrzehnte hinweg blieb sie das Herzstück der Familie — ein Wissen, das von Generation zu Generation weitergegeben wurde.
Mehr als sechzig Jahre später ist Vernaccia noch immer Familiensache. Unter der Führung von Elio Carta, der das Unternehmen seit 1972 leitet, wird die Vernaccia di Oristano DOC bis heute mit derselben Hingabe produziert. Gleichzeitig öffnete sich das Haus behutsam neuen Wegen: Aus tiefer Verbundenheit zur eigenen Herkunft und mit Blick auf Innovation entstand ein Sortiment, das heute auch Mirto Riserva, London Dry Gin, Vermouth und weitere charaktervolle Spirituosen umfasst.
So trägt Silvio Carta die Essenz Sardiniens in die Welt — Wacholder, Myrte und Zitrusfrüchte, eingefangen in Destillaten und Weinen, die von einer alten, reichen Landschaft erzählen und deren Geschichte weit über die Insel hinaus spürbar machen.
